Oil Drilling Set to Begin in Ogun as Senator Adeola Reveals Major Economic Boost

Oil drilling is coming to Ogun State soon. Senator Adeola confirms plans to start exploration at Tongeji Island, promising jobs, growth, and transformation.

Oil exploration is expected to begin soon in Ogun State following an announcement by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, who represents Ogun West at the National Assembly. Speaking at a community event in Ota, the senator confirmed that preparations are underway for crude oil drilling at Tongeji Island in Ipokia Local Government Area, a border community between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.

Senator Adeola attributed the development to the economic policies introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the pro-investment approach of Governor Dapo Abiodun. He applauded both leaders for creating a business-friendly environment that is drawing in investors and laying the foundation for economic expansion.

According to the senator, the commencement of oil drilling will mark a turning point for Ogun State, placing it among Nigeria’s oil-producing regions. He predicted a surge in economic activities and prosperity for both the state and the country once the drilling operations begin. He also emphasized that Nigeria’s crude oil output would see a significant increase.

Senator Adeola highlighted Governor Abiodun’s achievements, including the completion of the agro-cargo airport, which has attracted additional large-scale private investments. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to build a dry seaport and other major infrastructure projects across the state. He praised the governor’s leadership and declared that his legacy in infrastructure and economic growth would be unmatched.

During the event, Senator Adeola explained that his ongoing empowerment tour across the senatorial district was designed to reward the support he received during the 2023 general election. In Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, he noted that his largest project is located there, along with 15 completed road projects and nine still under construction.

He announced that N26 billion has already been mobilized for the construction of the Atan-Ikonga-Alapoti-Ado-Odo Road, stating that the road, once completed, would improve trade, movement, and overall economic activities in the area.

Assuring constituents of continued effective representation, Senator Adeola reported that he has sponsored 10 bills in under two years, with 70 percent already progressing to the second reading stage at the Senate.
