The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in honour of Workers’ Day. This announcement came from the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released on Tuesday evening and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
The Minister praised Nigerian workers for their hard work, sacrifice, and commitment, describing their role as central to the country’s growth and international standing. He stressed that the dignity of labour must be recognised, adding that every act of dedication contributes to nation-building.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on workers to embrace innovation and productivity in their professions. He urged them to continually improve their skills to help strengthen governance and ensure that all Nigerians enjoy the benefits of the country’s resources.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Minister assured citizens and foreigners alike of the administration’s dedication to the safety and security of lives and property. He also encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, highlighting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a path toward national progress.
