30 Held Over Internet Fraud Training in Benin as EFCC Begins Probe

EFCC investigates 30 suspects arrested at alleged Yahoo school in Benin City, found with laptops, fetish items, and training tools.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun investigations into 30 individuals suspected of operating and attending an illegal internet fraud training centre in Benin City, Edo State. The centre, known as Hustle Kingdom (HK), was uncovered by personnel from the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army. The suspects were arrested at their hideout and handed over to the EFCC on Monday, April 28, 2025, for further questioning.

According to a statement posted by the anti-corruption agency on Tuesday, the location appeared to function as a fully equipped computer school, complete with desktop computers, workstations, and other accessories commonly found in tech-based training centres. However, investigators also discovered a separate area containing a variety of fetish items, raising further suspicion about the nature of the activities being conducted.

Among the items recovered were a Toyota Corolla, several mobile phones, laptops, and MP3 devices. The EFCC confirmed that once investigations are concluded, all suspects will be formally charged in court.
