Court Grants EeZeeTee N20 Million Bail Over Alleged Forex Fraud

Music producer EeZeeTee receives N20 million bail after facing charges for unauthorized forex transactions worth $255,000.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted music producer Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as EeZeeTee, bail in the amount of N20 million. This follows charges of alleged involvement in a $255,000 foreign exchange transaction fraud. Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke issued the ruling on Friday, setting the bail conditions, which include providing a surety who must reside in Lagos and possess property worth at least the bail amount.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had originally filed 14 charges against EeZeeTee but later reduced them to seven counts. The charges accuse him of engaging in unauthorized foreign exchange transactions. According to the prosecution, in June 2023, EeZeeTee negotiated a transaction worth $52,895 with Mr. Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke, without approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), violating the Foreign Exchange Act.

EeZeeTee pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case is scheduled for trial on June 20, 2025.
