Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has received commendations from the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as Senators Onyekachi Nwebonyi and Ken Eze, for his effective leadership in restoring peace to the long-conflicted Ezza/Effium communities. The Governor’s proactive measures, including signing a peace accord into law, initiating land demarcation, and establishing five new autonomous communities, have been crucial in the ongoing peace efforts.
Chidi Sinbad Ogbuatu, the APC Publicity Secretary, praised Governor Nwifuru for his commitment to security and inclusive approach to solving the crisis. He acknowledged the Governor’s wisdom and bold actions that have brought unity to the area and described him as a true peacemaker. Ogbuatu emphasized that creating separate communities and demarcating land boundaries signal a positive shift in resolving the dispute.
Senator Nwebonyi, who represents Ebonyi North, also expressed his appreciation, referring to Nwifuru as a “peace ambassador” and urging all parties to embrace the peace initiative. He commended creating autonomous communities and land demarcation as key steps in resolving the crisis.
Senator Ken Eze from Ebonyi Central echoed these sentiments, praising the Governor’s political will in ending the four-year conflict. He highlighted the peace bill passed by the State House of Assembly, which has legitimized the peace process and aims to prevent future disputes. Eze extended gratitude for Nwifuru’s continuous peacebuilding efforts, noting that the people of Ebonyi recognize and appreciate his sacrifices.
