APC Faces Risk of Defeat in Osun 2026 If Osun-West Is Denied Governorship Ticket

APC risks electoral loss in Osun 2026 if Osun-West is excluded from the governorship ticket, warn political groups. Urging the party to address past marginalization.

In Osun State, two influential political groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have warned sternly about the potential consequences of denying the Osun-West senatorial district the party’s governorship ticket in 2026. The Progressives Frontliners (TPF) and the Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups (COAIG) have emphasized that ignoring this district’s demands could lead to another defeat for the party.

The groups’ leaders, Ademola Rukayat and Samuel Iwolode, have made it clear that the party’s recent electoral losses can be partially attributed to the ongoing marginalization of Osun-West. They argue that continuing this pattern of exclusion could hinder the APC’s efforts to reclaim power from the current ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The groups stressed that this issue is not motivated by personal grievances, but rather by a genuine desire to correct long-standing political imbalances. They firmly believe that granting the governorship ticket to Osun-West is vital to restoring the party’s political strength in the state.

In a formal move, the groups delivered a letter to the APC Secretariat in Osogbo, urging the party to listen to Osun-West’s concerns. The letter was received by the APC’s Director of Administration and Finance. The group’s message is clear: failure to address Osun-West’s marginalization could have dire consequences for the APC’s prospects in the 2026 governorship election.
