Five Amotekun Officers Injured in Brutal Attack on Osun Command

Five Amotekun operatives in Osun State were injured during a violent attack on their command, allegedly linked to a burial dispute.

Amotekun operatives in Osun State were left injured following a violent attack on their command in the Awo area of Egbedore Local Government. The assault, which took place last weekend, resulted in five personnel sustaining injuries. According to the Amotekun spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, the attack occurred after a request by the Oniwoye of Iwoye to investigate an alleged illegal burial on community land. When the officers arrived, they found the burial already completed.

However, during their investigation, notorious criminal Ismaila Aluko and his gang ambushed the operatives, injuring them severely. In a tactical move, the officers withdrew to their command office to avoid further confrontation.

The situation escalated when the same gang regrouped and launched a second attack on the Amotekun office in Awo. Despite the presence of law enforcement officers, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), the assailants attempted to disarm the Amotekun personnel, inflicting serious injuries. One officer sustained critical wounds, while four others had minor injuries.

This attack is seen as a direct threat to public safety, and the Osun Amotekun Corps has vowed to work with other security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those responsible. Authorities emphasize their unwavering commitment to ensuring the protection of lives and maintaining peace in the community.
