A Miami nurse is facing manslaughter charges after allegedly removing her mother’s breathing tube while she was hospitalized, claiming it was to allow her to die peacefully. Juansette Sabrina Green, 54, a nurse practitioner with over two decades of experience, was arrested last week after this incident. According to reports, Green’s mother had been hospitalized on May 5 due to breathing difficulties. Green reportedly called her siblings to the hospital to see their grandmother. Upon their arrival, she allegedly stated, “I’m pulling out,” before removing the intubation tube.
An alarm went off, and medical staff rushed to intervene, but despite their efforts, Green’s mother passed away. Green reportedly instructed the medical staff to stop their attempts to resuscitate her mother, insisting that she wanted her mother to pass away peacefully. Following the incident, deputies visited Green’s home to speak with her. She agreed to answer their questions, but not at her residence, so she was taken to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Green was read her rights before being detained.
Over the weekend, Green appeared in court, where a judge ordered that she be held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The case is still under investigation.
