Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Banjul Accord Group (BAG) Council of Ministers. The announcement was made during the fourth meeting of the BAG Council, which took place in Abuja.
Keyamo’s role will involve leading a group of ministers from seven West African nations: Nigeria, Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. As Chairman, he is tasked with guiding regional efforts in aviation, ensuring the harmonization of policies, and advancing key initiatives to improve air transport safety and efficiency across the BAG region.
The Banjul Accord Group, established to promote safe and sustainable aviation systems in West Africa, aligns with international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The meeting in Abuja also highlighted discussions on air transport challenges, infrastructure development, and the improvement of regional air connectivity. Keyamo’s appointment is expected to bring a fresh wave of progress and collaboration within the BAG member states.
