The Anambra State Police Command has addressed the case of five missing travelers who were reported to have disappeared while on their way to a wedding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The individuals, identified as Aliu Idayat Opeyemi, Anifowose Promise, Femi Aniyeloye, Alex, and Femi, were last in contact with their families on May 20, 2025, when they were traveling from Lagos to Uyo. According to the details shared by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, the group stopped in Anambra, where they planned to rest before continuing their journey the following morning.

The families revealed that the group had last communicated with them around 10:00 PM on May 20, when they indicated they were stopping in Anambra to sleep for the night. Their last message came the next morning at 6:16 AM, when one of the travelers posted a birthday wish to his wife on WhatsApp. After this, all attempts were unsuccessful, as their phones were switched off and no one answered calls. This led to growing concern, prompting Gwamnishu to request public assistance locating the missing individuals.

In response, the Anambra Police Command stated on May 22, 2025, acknowledging the social media post and urging the public to share any helpful information that could help locate the missing travelers. The police clarified that no formal reports had been filed regarding the incident at any local police division or station, and they encouraged the families or relatives of the individuals involved to visit the police headquarters for further details.
