AC Milan has ended its relationship with coach Sergio Conceicao just six months after he took charge of the Serie A club. Conceicao, 50, was appointed last December following the dismissal of Paulo Fonseca and signed an 18-month contract. Early in his tenure, he led the team to victory in the Italian Super Cup, securing the club’s 50th trophy. However, the season did not go as planned. Milan lost the Coppa Italia final to Bologna, and their performance in the league remained weak. They finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on European competitions for the next season. Meanwhile, their rivals Inter Milan reached the Champions League final.
AC Milan issued a brief statement confirming the end of the partnership: “AC Milan and Sergio Conceicao will not continue their journey together next season. The Club thanks Sergio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism, and dedication during their time leading the First Team. We wish him the best for the future.”
Reports from Italy suggest Massimiliano Allegri is set to return as Milan’s new coach. Allegri, 57, previously managed AC Milan from 2010 to 2014, winning the Serie A title in the 2010-11 season. After leaving Milan, he enjoyed great success with Juventus, winning five league titles. Allegri has been without a club since departing Juventus at the end of the 2023-24 season. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed Allegri’s agreement to rejoin AC Milan.
