Youths in Niger Delta Gain Oil & Gas Skills Through NCDMB’s Expert Training

NCDMB equips 50 Niger Delta youths with subsea and FPSO training, tech tools, and stipends to boost career chances in oil and gas.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has empowered 50 young people from the Niger Delta with hands-on training in subsea operations and Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) systems. The five-day professional workshop, which focused on offshore engineering practices, ended with participants receiving certificates, monetary support, and computer notebook tablets to enhance their learning experience.

Engineer Weyinmi Ebiyon, a representative from NCDMB, applauded the trainees for their commitment during the programme held in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. He explained that the training was delivered by Solution Finders OJTEQ Consultants Limited and was tailored for engineers and scientists aiming to build careers in the oil and gas industry. Ebiyon stressed the importance of applying the acquired knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the sector.

Participants described the training as impactful. Kenneth Odeworitse Uromietaghan noted that he now has a deeper understanding of how FPSO vessels operate offshore, where crude oil is extracted and processed. Another trainee, Oribioye Shedrack, said the programme gave him a solid grasp of FPSO systems despite not having prior practical experience. He expressed gratitude to NCDMB for bringing such a valuable opportunity to the region.

While the FPSO training concluded, another skill-building programme sponsored by NCDMB is ongoing in a different hall of the same youth training centre in Warri. This initiative focuses on bag-making and involves 20 participants working with sewing machines and cardboard materials. According to Engineer Weyinmi, the programme spans two months, and the current batch has completed one month so far.
