Oduduwa Group Backs Tinubu’s Midterm Record, Rebukes Afenifere’s Criticism

Oduduwa Frontiers backs President Tinubu's midterm performance, challenges Afenifere’s claims, and calls for unity and informed national dialogue.

The Oduduwa Frontiers has come out in strong support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s midterm performance, pushing back against recent criticisms by Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political group. In a statement issued by its National President, Kolawale Adediji Kazeem, the group described Afenifere’s remarks as misleading and lacking an understanding of the current national realities.

The Oduduwa Frontiers stated that Nigeria is facing serious problems inherited from past governments, such as economic instability, poor infrastructure, and social unrest. They argued that blaming the Tinubu administration for the country’s long-standing issues shows a failure to grasp the depth of the nation’s challenges.

According to Kazeem, claims that development in Nigeria has declined under Tinubu are not only unrealistic but also ignore the difficult conditions in which the administration has been operating. These include global economic shocks, persistent security concerns, and the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group stressed that Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda was designed as a long-term plan for national rebuilding—not a quick fix. They criticized Afenifere for expecting instant change and warned against spreading negative narratives without offering realistic solutions.

Kazeem expressed disappointment with what he called Afenifere’s turn toward sensational commentary, urging the group to return to its tradition of contributing positively to national debates. He said informed dialogue is more useful than public statements that dismiss the government’s ongoing work.

The group pointed to several initiatives under Tinubu’s leadership, including infrastructure upgrades, security efforts, and moves to diversify the economy. While acknowledging that results may take time to show, they insisted that steady groundwork is essential for lasting development.

In its closing remarks, the Oduduwa Frontiers called on Afenifere and other critics to embrace constructive criticism and national unity. They encouraged cooperation across different political and civic groups to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy through honest and informed conversation.
