A Lieutenant Commodore identified as M. Buba was stabbed to death by a criminal at Kawo bridge, Kaduna, after refusing to hand over his phone. The officer, a student at the Armed Forces and Command Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, had a flat tire while returning from Jaji when the attack happened. While changing his tire, the attacker demanded his phone. When Buba questioned the demand, the assailant stabbed him in the chest with a local knife.
A local vigilante, Suleiman Dahiru, who tried to intervene, was also stabbed in the hand. Nearby people quickly overpowered and killed the attacker on the spot. The injured officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was taken to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital mortuary in Kaduna for further procedures.
Security forces, including plainclothes troops, police, and other agencies, have intensified covert operations to remove criminals from bus stops and dangerous areas in Kaduna city. Police spokesperson ASP Mansir Hassan confirmed the incident and called it unfortunate, assuring the public that efforts are ongoing to secure the state.
