Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to making Delta a competitive and economically vibrant region by prioritizing infrastructure and sustainable development. During a meeting with the top management of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) at their global headquarters in Beijing, the governor presented his administration’s detailed roadmap for growth.
Governor Oborevwori shared plans to expand and modernize road networks, improve bridges and public transport, and connect isolated riverine communities to the rest of the state. He described infrastructure as a backbone for economic growth and a better standard of living for residents.
Joined by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, and Technical Assistant, Engineer Bob Nakpodia, the governor used the visit to promote his administration’s MORE agenda, which focuses on modernization, opportunity, reform, and expansion. He highlighted how stronger infrastructure would help diversify the state’s economy and attract more local and foreign investors.
The governor and his team were taken on a tour of CCECC’s digital exhibition halls, where they viewed major projects the company has executed across Africa. These included railways, highways, and urban development initiatives.
CCECC President Chen Sichang welcomed the Delta delegation and praised the long-standing relationship between the corporation and the state. He noted that since the company entered into Nigeria in 1981, it has created jobs through numerous infrastructure projects, including roads, railways, and erosion control.
Mr. Sichang commended Oborevwori’s leadership, especially his focus on quality work and efficient use of resources, values CCECC shares. He expressed confidence in continued collaboration that would benefit both parties.
