A devastating bomb explosion rocked Konduga Local Government Area in Borno State on Friday night, killing at least 10 people. The blast took place outside a local cinema next to the busy Konduga fish market, a popular spot for residents. Borno State Police confirmed the incident on Saturday through their Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, who spoke to reporters.
Daso clarified that 10 people died, contradicting earlier reports claiming 20 deaths. He explained that a female suicide bomber, carrying improvised explosive devices, infiltrated a crowded food market and detonated the explosives. Several others were injured in the attack. Security forces quickly secured the area, evacuated victims, and ensured the injured were taken to hospitals in Maiduguri for treatment.
Daso called on the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police or other security agencies, emphasizing that the fight against terrorism requires community support. The tragic event has left the community in mourning as authorities continue their efforts to maintain safety.
