Police Question Three over Illegal Sale of Fasehun Family Farmland in Ondo

Police interrogate suspects in Ondo over alleged illegal sale of farmland and destruction of palm trees belonging to the Fasehun family.

Three suspects, including a woman popularly known as Iya, have been questioned by the police in Akure over claims of illegally selling farmland and destroying valuable crops belonging to the Fasehun family.

Officers at the Ondo State Command, led by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, interrogated the suspects on June 14 regarding the unauthorized sale of several acres of land in Ondo City. The property is said to belong to Engr. Olufemi Fasehun, Ambassador Orobola Fasehun, and the late Dr. Frederick Fasehun, who founded the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).

The suspects are also accused of cutting down palm trees worth millions of naira during their alleged illegal occupation of the land. After hours of interrogation, the Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Sunday Oshodi, recommended that the suspects be charged to court.

Engr. Fasehun, speaking after the police interview, warned the public against buying any land from the accused persons. He also advised anyone who had already purchased land from them to stop further development and seek a refund from the sellers. He stated that the Fasehun family is united in condemning the act and is committed to pursuing justice.

Meanwhile, the matter has moved to the courts. A High Court in Ondo, led by Justice J. Abe, has ordered all parties to maintain the current state of affairs until the court rules on the case. The order came under Suit No. HCOD/33/CIV/202, filed by Engr. Olufemi Fasehun and others against Adewunmi Fasehun, Felix Fasehun, Mrs. Clara Ogunsanmi, and others.
