Rapper DDG Seeks Court Approval to Visit Son Halo in Rome Amid Custody Battle

DDG asks court to visit his son in Rome with his mom's supervision as custody fight with Halle Bailey continues over abuse and social media concerns.

American rapper and YouTuber DDG has asked a Los Angeles court for permission to travel to Rome and visit his 18-month-old son, Halo, who is currently with his mother, actress Halle Bailey. Bailey has temporary sole custody of the child following allegations that DDG physically assaulted her several times in front of their son. The court granted her custody last month.

During a hearing on Tuesday, June 24, DDG’s lawyer, Larry Bakman, told the judge that his client wants to see Halo in Rome at the end of the month, with his mother present during the visit. However, Bailey’s attorney, Jeremy Lane, objected to DDG’s mother acting as a monitor. He insisted a professional should supervise the visit instead, citing past behavior where she reportedly supported DDG’s alleged abuse and posted about Bailey and the child online.

Judge Latrice A.G. Byrdsong said it was reasonable for DDG to visit his son in Italy, but agreed that a neutral monitor should be involved. She also added that if the visit goes ahead, DDG would not be allowed to post anything about Halo on social media during that period.

The lawyers are now trying to find a certified monitor in Rome. The matter will return to court on Thursday, June 26, for further updates.

Meanwhile, DDG has denied the abuse claims and filed his case, alleging Bailey was the abusive one in the relationship. He also accused her of using threats of self-harm to manipulate him emotionally. Bailey responded by saying those claims were exaggerated and that her mental health is currently stable and under control.

Bailey will continue to have full custody of Halo while the legal dispute continues. A final decision is expected after a full custody hearing in late July.
