Chelsea has reportedly sealed a transfer agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign England under-21 winger Jamie Gittens. According to Sky Sports, both clubs, currently competing at the Club World Cup in the United States, have reached a deal worth up to €65 million (£55 million or $76 million).
Gittens, 20, began his youth career at Chelsea before moving to Manchester City’s academy. He later joined Dortmund in 2022, where he went on to make 107 appearances. Last season alone, he scored 12 goals across the Bundesliga and Champions League, adding to his total of 17 for the club.
The move comes as Chelsea look to strengthen their attacking options. The club had earlier turned down a permanent transfer for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho following his loan stint. They are also dealing with the ongoing provisional suspension of Mykhailo Mudryk, who failed a drug test.
Gittens is expected to be Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer. He joins striker Liam Delap, midfielder Dario Essugo, and defender Mamadou Sarr. Meanwhile, 18-year-old Brazilian winger Estevao Willian will also link up with the Blues after completing the Club World Cup with Palmeiras.
