Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested 25-year-old Uchenna Uchegbu, suspected to be part of a gang responsible for multiple violent crimes in Orumba South Local Government Area. The Rapid Response Squad arrested him after a disturbing attack on June 2, 2025, in Umucheke Village.
According to the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the gang blindfolded and tied a 68-year-old man before stealing from him and raping his 23-year-old daughter. During interrogation, Uchegbu confessed to another crime on May 23, 2025, involving the robbery and rape of a 52-year-old woman. She later lost consciousness and died in the hospital.
Police are using information from the suspect to identify and apprehend other gang members, aiming to stop further crimes and bring those involved to justice.
