FCT Police Issue Urgent Warning Against Roadside Trading Ahead of Easter Festivities

With Easter fast approaching, the FCT Police urge residents to stop street trading and obey traffic rules to avoid accidents and legal consequences. Full details and emergency lines inside.

As preparations for Easter celebrations begin, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has issued a strong warning to residents to avoid trading on roads and streets across the city. The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Saka Adewale, called on everyone living in the FCT to obey all traffic rules and support efforts aimed at keeping the city safe, peaceful, and well-organized during the festive season.

He cautioned that street trading causes traffic jams, increases the risk of accidents, and endangers both pedestrians and drivers. Residents were reminded that selling goods on the roads not only disrupts traffic flow but also puts lives at risk. The police made it clear that such actions will not be tolerated.

The Command also warned against any form of assault or interference with officers carrying out traffic and safety duties. Those caught will face the full consequences of the law. CP Adewale pointed out that respecting traffic laws is not just a legal obligation but also a way to protect lives and support the growth of the country.

He encouraged the public to see the police as allies and not enemies. According to him, working together with law enforcement and showing respect for road signs, traffic rules, and public safety efforts will lead to a more peaceful and better-organized city, especially during busy holiday periods.

The police emphasized that they remain fully committed to protecting lives and property and called on residents to help by reporting any traffic violations or suspicious activities. Emergency numbers have been provided for quick response: 08032003913, 08033111911, or 07057321547.
