A joint military operation led by troops under Operation Hadin Kai has resulted in the death of 24 Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents during a series of coordinated raids and ambushes across Borno and Adamawa states. The five-day operation, which ran from July 4 to 9, was confirmed on Wednesday by Capt. Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the Theatre Command.
The operations involved troops working alongside the Nigerian Air Force, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters. Their goal was to maintain pressure on terrorist hideouts and help return peace to the region.
On July 4, troops lying in ambush at Platari intercepted insurgents on bicycles moving from Sambisa Forest to the Timbuktu Triangle, killing three. Later that day, one more terrorist was killed near the Komala area, and items such as motorcycles, pesticides, and food supplies were seized. In another night ambush at Kawuri in Konduga Local Government Area, troops killed two logistics carriers and recovered essential items like salt and detergents.
A separate operation on July 5 stopped insurgents trying to enter the Madarari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Konduga. One terrorist was killed, and ammunition was recovered. Later, troops on a fighting patrol at Leno Kura encountered and killed three more insurgents in a shootout.
By July 6, troops carried out a night ambush at multiple crossing points between Ngoshe and Gava, killing one insurgent while others fled. On July 7, two more were neutralised near Sabsawa village, where troops seized torches, bicycles, and other supplies.
Operations intensified on July 8 with a major clearance at Bula Marwa, a known stronghold for both ISWAP and JAS fighters. One insurgent was killed, and several hideouts were destroyed with air support. That same day, a raid in Pambula village, Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa, led to the death of another terrorist and the recovery of four motorcycles and a locally made firearm. Further action in Bula Marwa resulted in another fatality and dismantling of a terrorist camp.
On July 9, troops and CJTF units pushed deeper into terrorist-controlled areas, clearing enclaves in Tangalanga and Bula Marwa. Three insurgents were killed, and six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines, and 90 rounds of ammunition were recovered. Additional ambushes in Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages led to the death of six more insurgents through coordinated efforts with hybrid forces.
According to Capt. Kovangiya, these successful offensives reflect strong coordination between ground troops, air support, and local volunteers. The combined effort not only disrupted terrorist networks but also strengthened efforts to restore stability and rebuild affected communities in Nigeria’s North East.
