Former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross caused a stir during a CNN appearance by accusing the Trump administration of detaining people under conditions she likened to concentration camps. She claimed the government was “disappearing” individuals and treating it as normal. Cross said these detentions involved both domestic and international sites, describing the situation as “kidnapping.”
New York Post editor-at-large Kelly Jane Torrance challenged her remarks, calling the comparison offensive to Holocaust survivors. Cross defended her position strongly, saying what was happening under Trump’s immigration policy was more offensive. She dismissed the need for specifics like “gas ovens,” insisting the facilities still fit the definition of concentration camps.
Cross pointed to reports suggesting less than 10% of those detained had committed serious crimes. She criticized what she called a competition over suffering and said she too could speak from experience.
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson called Cross’s comments dangerous and false. She said comparing deportation and detention of illegal immigrants to Holocaust atrocities was “incomparable” and could incite violence against law enforcement officers. Jackson cited a recent attack on Border Patrol agents, linking it to what she described as “deranged” public statements.
Jackson demanded an apology from Cross and criticized CNN for giving her a platform. Her remarks came days after Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem opened a migrant detention facility in the Florida Everglades, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz.” Built on an old airport site, the center is designed to hold up to 5,000 migrants as part of Trump’s broader effort to remove undocumented immigrants.
Fox News Digital said CNN was contacted for comment.
