APC Sweeps Chairmanship Seats in Ikorodu and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Elections

APC candidates win big in Lagos local polls, securing chairmanship seats in Ikorodu and Igbogbo/Baiyeku with wide margins over PDP and other rivals.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed victory in the just-concluded Lagos State local government elections held in Ikorodu Local Government Area and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area. The results were announced around 12:35 a.m. by the Returning Officers under the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

Prince Adedayo Ladega of APC emerged as the new chairman of Ikorodu LG after receiving 38,946 votes. His closest challenger, Princess Saidat Odofin of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), secured 2,592 votes. Labour Party candidate Abdulazeez Awesu followed with 2,753 votes, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) recorded 68 votes.

In Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, also of APC, was declared winner after securing 15,015 votes. His opponent from the PDP, Liadi Olawale, got 341 votes.

Outgoing Ikorodu chairman Wasiu Adesina described the results as a clear endorsement of the APC by local voters. He thanked residents for their strong turnout and pledged that the party would continue to focus on grassroots development and service delivery.
