Senator Ali Ndume has mourned the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a true patriot, mentor, and father figure whose life of integrity and national service left a lasting legacy. The Borno South Senator said the news of Buhari’s death came as a painful shock, adding that it affected him deeply on a personal level.
In a statement released in Abuja, Ndume reflected on the strong bond he shared with the late President, whom he admired for his humility, simplicity, and dedication to Nigeria’s progress. He said their relationship was built on mutual respect and fondness, often expressed through light-hearted cultural exchanges.
Ndume recalled that their final meeting in Daura, Katsina State, was filled with warmth, laughter, and thoughtful advice—moments he will always treasure. He said Buhari’s belief in his potential played a key role in shaping his political path and personal growth.
Calling him a pillar of support, Ndume expressed gratitude for the late President’s influence on his life. He prayed for Buhari’s soul to find peace in Jannatul Firdaus and noted that while the nation has lost a rare patriot, he has lost a father.
