Angela Peters, a 56-year-old Australian mother of five and grandmother to 12, has captured global attention after giving birth to twin girls, Khorus and Knowyn, with her 39-year-old Nigerian husband, Bright. Her remarkable journey began after a life-changing divorce in 2019, ending a marriage that lasted over two decades. Seeking companionship, Angela joined a dating site in March 2020 where she initially connected with a man named Emeka. But fate had other plans—Emeka’s younger brother, Bright, a cook living in South Africa, caught her eye.
From the moment she saw his photo, Angela felt a deep connection. Despite a 17-year age difference and thousands of miles between them, their bond quickly grew. In February 2021, she flew to Nigeria, and after meeting Bright in person, he proposed the very next day. They tied the knot in a small civil ceremony just nine days later.
Her children were initially shocked and concerned, fearing Bright could be a scammer. But over time, he earned their trust and became part of the family. Angela, already in perimenopause, thought her days of motherhood were behind her. Still, she was moved by Bright’s dream of having twin daughters. While she even suggested surrogacy or other options, fate offered a surprise.
During a 2023 trip to Nigeria, they discovered IVF clinics that treated older women. Using donor eggs and Bright’s sperm, Angela became pregnant. “We were overwhelmed with joy when the test came back positive,” she recalled. A scan confirmed she was carrying twins. At a gender reveal party, pink confetti rained down, matching Bright’s long-held dream.
Though critics online questioned her age, Angela remained unfazed. “Men have children in their 60s and no one blinks. Why should it be different for women?” she said. Her daughter, Deina, 28, admitted she had doubts, even fearing she would be asked to be a surrogate. But witnessing her mother’s successful pregnancy changed everything. “She’s incredible with the girls. It’s a wonder to see.”
