Popular Nigerian singer Badmus Abeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, regained his freedom on Tuesday afternoon after being granted bail. His release came shortly after a dramatic turn of events when the petitioner, Fuji musician Saheed Osupa, dropped the charges against him. The development paved the way for a review of the bail conditions, which led to Portable’s release from the Oke-Kura correctional facility in Ilorin at around 3:30 p.m.
Sources within the prison confirmed that Portable’s appearance had changed—he shaved off his signature multicoloured hair before leaving the facility. Two of his wives were seen at the prison to welcome him as he was released by correctional officers.
Portable had been arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun State, last Saturday and transferred to Ilorin by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command. The arrest was linked to allegations of criminal intimidation, defamation, and threats made against Saheed Osupa.
With the case now withdrawn and the bail terms revised, Portable has been allowed to return home, bringing an unexpected end to a case that had sparked widespread attention.
