The Nigerian Railway Corporation has confirmed that the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train service will resume operations tomorrow, Monday, September 29, following weeks of suspension.
According to Mr Callistus Unyimadu, Chief Public Relations Officer of the NRC, the decision comes after the successful completion of repair works and safety inspections on the damaged track at Asham. He explained that the suspension followed the August 26 incident, and since then, engineers and technical teams have worked to restore both the track and rolling stock to global safety standards.
Unyimadu revealed that 512 of the 583 passengers affected by the disruption have already received refunds, while arrangements are ongoing to compensate the remaining passengers. He added that the NRC values the patience of travelers and assures the public that safety and comfort remain its top priority.
The statement also acknowledged the support of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, security agencies, the media, and other stakeholders during the recovery period.
Details of the official resumption schedule will be communicated after services restart.
