Tinubu’s Bold Reforms Reset Nigeria’s Economy, Says APC at 65th Independence

APC hails Tinubu’s reforms at Nigeria’s 65th Independence, claiming economy reset with growth milestones and stability.

The All Progressives Congress APC has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a decisive reset of Nigeria’s economy, asserting that the country is now on a stronger path to stability and growth as the nation clocks 65 years of independence. In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Wednesday, the ruling party commended Nigerians for their resilience and commitment to the country despite enduring past economic and social challenges.

According to the APC, the Tinubu administration has reversed years of economic decline through bold policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market. Although these reforms initially triggered hardship for citizens, the party maintained that they have since repositioned the nation’s economy on solid macroeconomic foundations with visible gains already being recorded. The APC highlighted that Nigeria has become a net exporter and has consistently recorded trade surpluses in the last five quarters. It added that non-oil revenue has grown significantly, crude oil production has risen to record levels, and the country’s GDP expanded by 4.28 percent in the second quarter of 2025, surpassing the IMF’s growth projection of 3.5 percent.

The statement further revealed that foreign reserves now exceed 42 billion dollars, inflation has dropped to 20.1 percent, its lowest in years, and the government has reduced the nation’s debt servicing load by raising the Tax-to-GDP ratio from 10 percent to 13.5 percent. The APC said these reforms have also contributed to stabilising the naira and boosting investor confidence. Morka noted that alongside economic gains, the administration is accelerating infrastructural development, agricultural transformation, and job creation programmes, while intensifying the fight against insurgency and corruption, which he described as building blocks for historic national advancement.

The APC congratulated the nation on its 65th independence anniversary and reaffirmed its confidence that the reforms underway would deliver lasting prosperity and unity.
