Cardoso to Deliver First CBN Lecture at Lagos Business School on Friday

CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso to give inaugural lecture at Lagos Business School this Friday. Don’t miss insights on leadership and monetary policy before the deadline.

Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is set to deliver the first edition of the CBN Governor’s Lecture Series at Lagos Business School on Friday. The event, which the apex bank describes as a landmark platform for thought leadership, will feature Cardoso speaking on the theme “Next Generation Leadership in Monetary Policy & Nation Building.”

The initiative, launched by the CBN in partnership with leading tertiary institutions, is designed to run for three years and will spotlight key engagements aimed at broadening public understanding of monetary policy and its influence on Nigeria’s development path. The bank explained in a statement that the series is part of its Knowledge Acceleration and Thought Leadership Initiative, a programme built to foster dialogue, drive innovation, and advance financial inclusion across the country.

Friday’s lecture also aligns with the second anniversary of Cardoso’s tenure as CBN governor, a period the bank highlights as one focused on restoring price stability, strengthening institutional transparency, and ensuring monetary policies respond more closely to the realities Nigerians face daily. Cardoso has consistently underscored that maintaining stable prices remains the central bank’s core mandate, calling it a critical pillar for growth and protection of livelihoods.

In earlier remarks, the CBN governor stressed that Nigeria is at a defining stage, where global shifts in finance, rapid technological adoption, and the energy of its youthful population are reshaping the economy. He noted that innovation must be strategically harnessed, particularly by institutions with far-reaching influence such as the CBN.

The inaugural lecture is expected to attract top government officials, industry leaders, academics, and students, all of whom will be looking to engage in discussions that link monetary policy with the country’s broader economic and social aspirations. The CBN stated that the event will set the tone for future editions of the series, positioning it as a forum for exchanging ideas that shape the direction of Nigeria’s financial system and overall development.
