Yahaya Bello Demands Senator Natasha’s Arrest Over Alleged False Accusations

Ex-Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello petitions Nigeria’s police chief, calling for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s arrest over claims he says are defamatory and dangerous.

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has formally asked the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest and prosecute Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. This request was made through a petition signed by Bello’s legal representative, N. A. Abubakar. In the petition, Bello urged the police to invite Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to present solid proof to back up her allegations against him. He insists she should be arrested and charged under Nigerian law if she fails to do so.

According to Bello’s lawyer, the senator’s statements were not only damaging but also dangerous. She allegedly accused Bello of being part of an assassination plot, suggesting he was involved in a scheme to cover up the killing by disguising it as mob or ethnic violence. The former governor believes these allegations have deeply tarnished his image, portraying him as a violent political figure and fueling mistrust among the people of Kogi Central, especially in Ebiraland.

Bello’s legal team said the senator’s words misled the public, stirred unnecessary ethnic and political tensions, and put both his political career and personal safety at risk. They further argued that she used her position in the Senate to spread unverified and harmful information in a highly public and politically sensitive environment. The petition calls for immediate action, stressing that public peace and justice must be upheld.
