The 22 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. During a National Summit held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja, the governors expressed their full support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The announcement was made by Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State. He emphasized that the governors were united in their belief that Tinubu’s leadership is key to Nigeria’s future prosperity. Uzodimma moved the motion for Tinubu to be adopted as the flag-bearer for the APC in the 2027 elections, a motion seconded by Senator Uba Sani, the Vice Chairman of the PGF and Governor of Kaduna State.
A vote was held, with those present, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Assembly members, and other APC leaders, showing overwhelming support for Tinubu through a voice vote and standing ovation.
Uzodimma urged the governors to take responsibility for promoting government policies in their states and to ensure the APC wins all elections in their regions in 2027. The gathering’s final endorsement solidified Tinubu’s candidacy, marking a unified front for his second presidential term.
