Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham will be out of action for up to 12 weeks following a successful shoulder surgery. The England international was removed from the national team’s squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers due to the injury, which has troubled him since he dislocated his shoulder during a La Liga match in November 2023.
Despite managing to play with a shoulder brace for several months, Bellingham finally agreed to undergo surgery after Madrid’s run in the Club World Cup, where he admitted the brace had become increasingly uncomfortable. “I’ve got to the point where I’m fed up with the brace and having it tugged by other players. It keeps shifting,” Bellingham revealed during the tournament.
Real Madrid confirmed the operation was successful, stating that Bellingham will now begin rehabilitation. Although the club did not announce an exact recovery timeline, Spanish media reports estimate a 12-week absence. This will keep the 22-year-old out of several crucial games, including the La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid and Madrid’s first two Champions League fixtures.
Bellingham will also miss England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia scheduled for early September. If recovery stays on track, he is expected to return in time for the highly anticipated El Clasico against Barcelona in late October.
