The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Easter. This announcement was made on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the government.
The minister congratulated Christians across the nation, urging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice and unconditional love shown by Jesus Christ during his death and resurrection. He encouraged everyone to see the Easter season as a time to embrace forgiveness, compassion and selflessness.
In a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the government called on citizens to use the holiday to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress in Nigeria. The minister also reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to his Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting its goal of creating a stronger, more united, and prosperous country.
Nigerians were encouraged to show kindness to one another during the Easter period and extend a hand of support to those in need. The minister concluded with warm wishes for a peaceful and joyful celebration, sending greetings not just to Christians but to all Nigerians enjoying the break.
