Rapper and activist Falz has described his involvement in the 2020 #EndSARS movement as one of the most intense and challenging times of his life. Speaking during the #WithChude Live show at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, last Sunday, he recounted his experiences during the protests against police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria.
Falz revealed that, despite the difficulties, he has no regrets about being part of the movement. He explained that his decision stemmed from his belief in standing up for what he feels is right. “That period was one of the craziest and toughest times of my life. But I don’t regret it at all. I was taught never to regret doing what I believe is right. The protests, the struggle, and the connection we all felt–it was monumental. I’m grateful I participated,” he shared.
The artist emphasized that his activism is driven by compassion and humanity rather than a quest for validation or recognition. He credited his father, respected lawyer and human rights advocate Femi Falana (SAN), as his role model and inspiration for his commitment to justice.
Falz has consistently used his influence to raise awareness about social issues. He paid tribute to victims of police brutality in his music video, “Johnny,” which highlighted the pain and struggles faced by young Nigerians. Even after the #EndSARS movement, Falz remains active in the fight for justice, participating in memorial events and continuing to speak out against injustice.
