Ganduje Declares NNPP Politically Finished, Says Kwankwaso Eyeing Return to APC

As the April political climate heats up, APC Chairman Ganduje claims the NNPP is on its last legs and reveals Kwankwaso may be plotting a return to his former party.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has openly dismissed the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, as politically irrelevant, saying the party is already in its final days. He suggested that the NNPP’s influence has all but disappeared and claimed its leader, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, is now looking to rejoin the APC, where he once held sway.

Ganduje made these comments in Abuja while meeting with a delegation from the Tinubu Support Group. He described Kwankwaso’s potential return as a form of political homecoming, adding that the APC would be willing to welcome him back despite their past differences. Once allies during their time in Kano politics, Ganduje and Kwankwaso became political rivals in recent years. Ganduje likened the NNPP’s current state to a body already inside a coffin, with only the grave left to be dug. He stressed that the burial was just a matter of time.

He said Kwankwaso, having lost political ground, now appears to be seeking redemption by realigning with the ruling party. Ganduje’s comments hint at major realignments within Kano’s political landscape and reflect the broader calculations already shaping the run-up to future elections.
