Prince Adeniyi, a ride-hailing driver with inDrive, accepted a request from a man in Mayfair Gardens, Ile-Ife, expecting a short trip. The man was in a hurry to pick up his pregnant wife and take her to the hospital. Prince picked him up and drove into the estate to get the woman. They were already on their way out when the man calmly said, “Her water just broke.”
Reacting quickly, Prince pulled over. He covered the back seat with plastic sheets often used by drivers to protect their seats, creating a space for the woman to lie down. Without any medical training but guided by urgency and instinct, he stayed calm and supported the couple as the baby was delivered right there in the back seat of his car.
Once the baby was born, Prince drove them straight to the hospital. Medical professionals took over immediately, and both the mother and newborn received proper care. Prince didn’t stay for praise or rewards—he simply ensured they were safe and continued his workday.
Although situations like this aren’t part of any official protocol, they show the role empathy can play during emergencies. According to inDrive, every driver is carefully screened and encouraged to carry out their duties with care, responsibility, and a strong sense of community.
Prince’s quick thinking and kindness turned an ordinary ride into a life-changing moment.
