Mohamed Salah has been awarded the prestigious Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year for the third time. The Liverpool forward, 32, earned over 90% of the votes from 900 FWA members. His standout performance this season, where he scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists in 35 Premier League matches, played a pivotal role in helping Liverpool secure their 20th English top-flight title. This victory tied Salah with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry for the most FWA titles.
Virgil van Dijk, Salah’s Liverpool teammate, came in second, while Alexander Isak of Newcastle United finished third after netting 26 goals and helping end the club’s 56-year trophy drought. Arsenal’s Declan Rice rounded off the top four, receiving praise for his impressive displays in both the Premier League and Champions League.
In addition to the top four, other players such as Bruno Fernandes, Alexis Mac Allister, Bukayo Saka, and Trent Alexander-Arnold received votes, further highlighting the level of talent in this year’s competition.
