NALDA Empowers 80 Farmers in Osun with Poultry Cages, Birds, and Feed

NALDA supports 80 Osun farmers with poultry cages, birds, and feed, creating new income opportunities through a revolving farming model.

The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has provided poultry cages, birds, and bags of feed to 80 farmers in Osun State to boost agricultural productivity and create new income streams. Speaking at the launch of the Renewed Hope Women and Youth Empowerment Programme in Oba-Oke, Olorunda Local Government Area, NALDA’s Executive Secretary, Oluwasegun Adebayo, outlined the details of the initiative.

Each farmer received two poultry cages, twenty-three-week-old birds, and four bags of high-quality feed. After an additional three to four weeks of nurturing, dedicated buyers will purchase the mature birds. The profits will be shared among NALDA, the farmers, and the community, ensuring a cycle of reinvestment that encourages expansion and welcomes new participants.

Adebayo emphasized that this revolving poultry production model is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, designed to build a stronger middle class by promoting sustainable agriculture. He highlighted NALDA’s broader mission, which includes land development, farm management, storage solutions, and strategic marketing through partnerships with both private and public sector organizations.

He also noted that NALDA coordinates efforts across its network of Farm Estates and Partnership Farms, using infrastructure and machinery to support food security and enhance Nigeria’s agricultural exports. According to Adebayo, while NALDA operates within a political environment, its focus remains on practical results that directly benefit communities. He described the poultry initiative as a social enterprise that, with proper support, will deliver continuous benefits for farmers and the agricultural sector as a whole.
