Nasarawa Police Rescue Kidnapped Traditional Ruler Unharmed

Nasarawa police rescued the kidnapped traditional ruler Emmanuel Omanji unharmed after a 5-day operation, thanking locals and security teams for their support.

The police in Nasarawa State have rescued Emmanuel Omanji, the traditional ruler of Dari community in Kokona Local Government Area, after his abduction by armed gunmen. The incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, when the monarch was taken from his home during a violent raid. Police spokesperson Ramhan Nansel confirmed that Omanji was found safe and unharmed late Monday evening, June 2, 2025, in the Panwasa Mountains near Mada Station. The successful rescue came after persistent efforts by the Command’s Search and Rescue Team. Following the recovery, Omanji was immediately taken to a hospital for medical checks and has since reunited with his family. The police continue to hunt for the suspects who escaped the scene. Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed thanked the public for their vital support and information, which played a key role in the operation. He also praised other security agencies and local vigilante groups for their cooperation in the rescue effort.
