Lawmakers in Nigeria have reaffirmed their commitment to boosting ties with Bulgaria as both nations look to expand cooperation in trade, diplomacy, and key development areas. During a farewell meeting held at the National Assembly, the Nigeria-Bulgaria Parliamentary Group in the House of Representatives expressed readiness to take existing relations to the next level.
Rep. Munachim Alozie, who chairs the group, described the gathering as a meaningful step forward in building stronger diplomatic and business partnerships. The event was organized in honor of the outgoing Bulgarian Ambassador to Nigeria, Yanko Yordanov. Rep. Alozie acknowledged Ambassador Yordanov’s contribution to strengthening bilateral cooperation and said both countries would continue exchanging ideas to support mutual growth in areas such as agriculture, education, healthcare, energy, and tourism.
Rep. Alozie announced a scheduled Investment, Tourism, and Trade Mission to Bulgaria from July 14 to 20, 2025. He invited businesses, investors, and stakeholders to take part in the upcoming visit, which is expected to open new doors for collaboration and economic opportunities.
Speaking to journalists after the event, Ambassador Yordanov expressed gratitude for the warm relationship between both countries. He highlighted past achievements and expressed optimism about what lies ahead. According to him, the partnership has already seen progress in agriculture, infrastructure, transportation, and technology.
He pointed out that the collaboration in IT and high-tech fields is particularly promising, and he believes there are more areas where the two countries can grow together. Reflecting on his diplomatic experience in Nigeria, Ambassador Yordanov said he was satisfied with the progress made and excited about the future of Nigeria-Bulgaria relations. He expressed confidence that both nations would continue building on their shared enthusiasm and goodwill.
The meeting ended with a shared sense of purpose and a renewed commitment to fostering long-term cooperation that brings tangible benefits to both sides.
