Dr. Jibril Mustapha, President of the Nigeria Rescue Mission Organisation and former President of the Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO), has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to consider running for the 2027 presidential election. Mustapha appealed in a statement, urging Jonathan to step forward as a unifying candidate who can lead Nigeria out of its current challenges.
With Nigeria grappling with serious issues such as economic struggles, insecurity, and widespread unemployment, Mustapha emphasized the need for a leader who can unite the country and address these pressing concerns. He argued that now is the time for stakeholders to rally behind a candidate capable of representing the interests of all Nigerians.
Mustapha praised Jonathan’s past leadership, highlighting his commitment to democratic values and the welfare of all citizens during his presidency. According to him, Jonathan possesses the experience and vision needed to restore Nigeria’s glory, both internationally and within its borders.
The call for Jonathan to contest the 2027 elections comes amid ongoing debates about his eligibility. A 2022 ruling by the Federal High Court in Bayelsa confirmed that Jonathan could still run for president, clarifying that Section 137 does not prevent him from doing so.
The Nigeria Rescue Mission believes that under Jonathan’s leadership, Nigeria could make significant strides in economic development and national unity, making him an ideal candidate for the country’s future.
