Ogun Labour Party Chairman Says Nigerians Want Change in 2027

The Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Apagun Olaolu Samuel, has said Nigerians are eager for a change in leadership, expressing strong confidence that the Labour Party will take over from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

During a press briefing in Abeokuta, Olaolu criticized the current federal government over rising insecurity, food shortages, and a worsening economy. He stated that citizens are not just dissatisfied—they are actively hoping for a Labour Party-led administration.

Olaolu emphasized that the Labour Party is now the most credible opposition in the country. He claimed internal crises have weakened other parties, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), prompting many of its members to join the Labour Party. He credited a recent Supreme Court ruling as a turning point, saying it restored unity within the party and validated the Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee.

He noted that the Labour Party is rebuilding and uniting under one vision. According to him, the time for division is over, and the party is opening its doors wide to welcome returning and new members. Olaolu called on all party members to move forward with unity, promising full integration and inclusion for everyone willing to work toward the party’s goals.

He urged Nigerians to prepare for what he described as a major political shift, assuring that a Labour Party government would rebuild the economy, restore hope, and bring meaningful change. He pointed to the over six million votes recorded during the 2023 presidential election as proof of the party’s growing support and said the 2027 figure would be even higher.

Olaolu concluded by inviting all party members to engage in upcoming meetings and strategy sessions, encouraging collective planning and collaboration. He believes this renewed unity will position the Labour Party to meet future challenges and serve the public more effectively.
