A group of traditional rulers in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State has stepped in to mediate the dispute between the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, and the Alasi of Asi, Oba Oyewale Olasunkanmi. The tension between the two prominent figures escalated after they reportedly accused each other of making death threats, which sparked unrest in the community.
To resolve the matter, the Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Abioye Oyebode, who also serves as the president of the Odo-Otin council of traditional rulers, confirmed that efforts are underway to broker peace. He revealed that a meeting involving other royal fathers — including the Oloyan of Oyan, the Atapara of Iyeku, and the Alagbeye of Agbeye — had been held with the aim of settling the issue amicably.
Oba Oyebode noted that Oba Olasunkanmi had been invited to share his side of the story and expressed confidence that the matter could be resolved without further conflict. Supporting this view, the Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Kilani Adekeye, said he had spoken to both parties and was optimistic that peace would prevail, describing both men as peace-loving individuals.
The royal fathers emphasized that Speaker Egbedun has been a dedicated representative of the local government, bringing numerous development projects to the area. They urged residents to support him as efforts continue to restore calm and unity in the community.
