Osun West APC Group Supports Oyebamiji for 2026 Governorship Election

A political group in Osun calls for the zoning of the 2026 governorship ticket to Osun West, backing Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji as the best candidate to lead the state.

A political push for the zoning of Osun State’s 2026 governorship ticket has been formally launched. The group, Falex Foundation, revealed its support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the former Commissioner for Finance and current Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate. The announcement was made at a gathering in Ilesa, where prominent party figures, including Timothy Owoeye, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and Dr. Tunde Faleye, ex-Managing Director of the Osun State Investment Company (OSICOL), urged APC leaders to back the zoning of the ticket to Osun West Senatorial District, Oyebamiji’s home region.

Owoeye praised the leadership of Adegboyega Oyetola, former Governor of Osun State and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, calling him a key figure in maintaining party unity. He stressed that the call for zoning to Osun West was essential for the party’s growth and the future of the state, pointing to the need for fairness and balance in the political process. “Osun Central has held the seat for 16 years, and Osun East for 8 years. Now, it’s time for Osun West. Oyebamiji is the right choice, a man with integrity, loyalty, and experience,” Owoeye stated.

Both Owoeye and Faleye emphasized Oyebamiji’s qualifications, including his successful tenure as finance commissioner and his leadership at OSICOL. They presented him as the ideal candidate capable of leading Osun State into a brighter future. The group highlighted Oyebamiji’s commitment to the people and his deep understanding of the state’s governance needs.

In their call to action, Owoeye and Faleye urged APC leaders to act in the interest of the party’s unity and success, with the ultimate goal of ousting the current administration in 2026. They echoed the sentiment that the APC must unite to ensure a victory in the next election. “We are here to work together and strengthen our party. It is time to send Ademola Adeleke and the PDP out of power,” Owoeye remarked.

Faleye, the founder of Falex Foundation, added that Oyebamiji’s candidacy would be a step toward ensuring victory for the party in 2026. He affirmed that Oyebamiji had the competence and vision needed to lead the state forward, calling him a “round peg in a round hole.”

With this powerful backing, the APC’s path to the 2026 governorship election appears to be increasingly focused on securing the support of Osun West and rallying around a candidate seen as both capable and highly regarded within the party.
