Over 5,000 Bags of Rice and 2,000KG Corn Donated Across Nigerian Churches by Former Minister

Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, with Young Nigerian Voices, donates food to Christian communities nationwide for Easter—over 5,000 rice bags and 2,000KG corn.

Former Minister of Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, PhD, in partnership with the Young Nigerian Voices, has distributed more than 5,000 bags of rice and 2,000 kilograms of corn to Christian churches across Nigeria as Easter relief materials.

This nationwide outreach followed a similar initiative during the Ramadan season, where food supplies were extended to Muslim communities. The Easter campaign aimed to ease the burden on families unable to afford basic food items due to the current economic strain.

The distribution started in Zango, Kaduna State, where the initiative was flagged off by the National Coordinator, Mallam A.A. Usman, National Secretary Prince Richard, and Kaduna State Coordinator, Hon. Muhammad Saeed Muhammad. It concluded at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish in Umuduruegbeaku, Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State.

Mr. Chigozie Igbo, the National Publicity Secretary of the Group, explained that the mission was to support vulnerable Christian families and strengthen a sense of solidarity. He emphasized that the effort reflects a shared responsibility to uplift each other, especially during periods of hardship.

The Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rev. Fr. Jacob Nwosu, expressed gratitude to Hon. Nwajiuba, stating that the timely donation brought unexpected joy to women and widows who were uncertain about how to mark the Easter holiday. According to him, the gesture embodies the spirit of Easter, centered on sacrifice and compassion.

Hon. Chika Emedo, Imo State Coordinator for Young Nigerian Voices, also thanked Hon. Nwajiuba for consistently reaching out to people hit hardest by economic challenges. He praised the former minister’s continued involvement in welfare programs and prayed for divine support in his efforts to uplift the underprivileged.

The initiative was well received across the country, offering thousands of families a chance to celebrate Easter with dignity and a renewed sense of hope.
