Segun Odegbami, former captain of the Green Eagles, has been appointed as the Grand Sports Ambassador of Ogun State. The announcement, made by Governor Dapo Abiodun, also included the appointments of athletes Tobi Amusan and Anthony Joshua. Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of the upcoming 22nd National Sports Festival, which will be held in Ogun State, highlighting that the event would serve as a model for future National Sports Festivals.
During the ceremony, Governor Abiodun handed Odegbami the official certificate of appointment, marking the beginning of his new role. He also shared the state’s long-term vision for leveraging the event’s success, particularly through Odegbami’s involvement in developing the sports economy. The governor revealed that Odegbami had already provided a template for transforming the MKO Abiola Stadium, similar to the renowned Amsterdam Arena, a plan that will help maximize the benefits of hosting the event.
