Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, suspended Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, has dismissed allegations made against her by U.S.-based activist Dr. Sandra Duru, also known as Professor Mgbeke. Describing the claims as completely untrue, she has vowed to address the accusations in detail at a later time.
According to a statement issued by the Senator, a Facebook livestream shared by Sandra Duru on May 1, 2025, contained manipulated content falsely attributed to her. Natasha stated that remarks allegedly made by her against individuals like Dr. Oby Ezekwesili and Dr. Abiola, as well as organizations like FIDA, were entirely fabricated. She claimed these actions serve ulterior motives linked to Senator Godswill Akpabio. Natasha also highlighted inconsistencies in Duru’s identity, alleging she previously posed as Professor Mgbeke on social media.
The allegations arise amidst a broader controversy involving Natasha and the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, originating from claims of sexual harassment. Sandra Duru has alleged that Natasha offered her N200 million to fabricate accusations against Akpabio, including linking him to organ harvesting and the death of a young girl. Duru has submitted purported evidence of these claims to authorities in the U.S. and other regions for forensic examination while urging global security agencies and the Nigerian police to probe the accusations.
Senator Natasha has dismissed these allegations as baseless and intends to address them comprehensively in the near future. The unfolding developments add to the ongoing drama surrounding this political controversy.
