Eleonora Boi, wife of retired NBA forward Danilo Gallinari, revealed she was bitten by a shark while enjoying a beach day in Puerto Rico. The Italian TV personality, who is currently pregnant with their third child, shared details of the terrifying incident on her Instagram, posting a photo from her hospital bed and calling it “the worst day of my life.”
Boi explained that the attack happened near the shore on a crowded beach, making the incident even more shocking. “I never thought I could get attacked by a shark,” she wrote, noting that she and her unborn child are both safe following the ordeal. She said she was quickly taken for treatment, and doctors performed surgery on her injured leg, which she described as “poor and bruised.”
Despite the trauma, Boi remained in high spirits, joking that the shark would be hearing from her lawyer and thanking Gallinari for his bravery during the emergency. Reports say the injury occurred on her thigh.
Officials from Puerto Rico’s Department of Natural and Environmental Resources have launched an investigation to determine the type of shark responsible. Biologist Nilda Jiménez said photos of the injury suggest a shark bite, but further medical analysis is needed to confirm it.
Gallinari, who played for eight NBA teams between 2008 and 2024, has not commented publicly on the attack. He ended his career averaging 14.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game across 777 appearances.
