Nigerian social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely recognized as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the development through a post on Facebook, alleging that the arrest was connected to VDM’s criticisms of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) over reported unauthorised transactions involving his mother’s account.
Further details from Adeyanju reveal that lawyers from his firm met with a friend of VDM who was also detained. Despite attempts to engage him, VDM reportedly refused to leave his cell or see anyone. Allegedly, he was locked inside the exit door of GTBank for several minutes, which facilitated his arrest by the EFCC.
Adeyanju underscored plans to pursue legal action against GTBank, citing inhumane treatment of his client during the incident.
